Welcome to the Festival of Literacies.

The Festival took place between 2001 and 2008.

It was a place to celebrate the creation and mobilization of knowledge
about literacy practice and literacy research.

“ It has fuelled my excitement about literacy work,
and created a place where I feel that
the experience of literacy workers is valued.”
*

There are many kinds of important literacy used in today's world.
The festival is a meeting ground for diverse literacy communities.

“It takes you out of your own little literacy world into a broader context.
It helps you see how your work is connected.”
*

Our office is in Toronto at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education
but the festival is accessible to those outside Toronto through online courses.

It takes us to another level in our literacy work and learning.*

Browse through our site to find out how you can join the festival
and contribute to our literacy knowledge.
